The Electronics Industry Consortium (EICC) has changed its name to reflect its expanded approach and influence.

October 17, 2017 - The Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), a non-profit alliance of leading companies in the electronics sector to promote the improvement of social, environmental, and ethical conditions in their global supply chains - announced the association has changed its name to the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA).

EICC was established in 2004 by a group of forward-thinking electronics companies, it is called the Code of Conduct for businesses operating in the electronics industry. As the EICC expanded its scope, programs, and tools, it became an alliance of businesses operating in the electronics industry. Since then its influence, capabilities, key areas of activity, and membership have expanded significantly. The name change to the Alliance for Responsible Business marks the next step forward for the organization.

“This is an important milestone and we are excited to take the next step in this journey with our members,” said Rob Lederer, Executive Director of the Alliance for Responsible Business. stated. "The new brand represents the organization today, conveys its leadership on issues related to customer-specific requirements (CSR) across the supply chain, and will take us into the future as we deepen engagement across industries, governments, and stakeholders around the world."

In 2016, the EICC updated its definition of membership eligibility, allowing not only companies that manufacture or contract manufacture electronic equipment, but also companies with products where electronics are a main and essential function of the product. The new definition has opened the door for members to be companies operating in automotive technology, toys, aviation, and wearable technology companies...

The evolution of the EICC to the RBA is a recognition that electronics products are increasingly popular with diverse product categories and that these companies have similar supply chains and shared goals in practice. responsible business. The new brand will strengthen the organization as it promotes best practice implementation, cross-industry collaboration, and collective efforts of its members.

Along with the rebranding as the Coalition for Responsible Businesses comes the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI), a multi-industry initiative with more than 360 member companies that will become the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI). CFSI's new brand reflects the organization's direction and expands its reach beyond conflict and security issues in the supply chain of minerals such as tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (3TG) from the region. Great Lakes of Africa RMI will continue CFSI's mission and vision under its new name and brand, providing programs, services, and tools to encourage responsible mineral supply chains globally and supporting businesses to comply with regulations.

New logos for the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) and its initiatives, including RMI, Responsible Labor Initiative (RLI), and Yes Factory Initiative Responsibility (RFI), will serve as a compass, and the RBA will continue to guide companies on the path to complying with their social responsibility.
