ISO 14001:2015 internal audit checklist

An ISO 14001:2015 internal audit checklist helps audit teams prepare questions and record evidence about an environmental management system. The material was compiled and updated by consultant Pham Xuan Canh and the ITVC Global consulting team.

Preparing to use the checklist

• Define the audit scope, departments and activities to be examined.
• Relate the questions to the business’s environmental aspects and operational controls.
• Prepare the documents, records and people needed to clarify implementation.
• Add questions suited to the actual site instead of using the template unchanged.

Record results and follow up improvement

For each audit topic, record the evidence examined, the assessment outcome and further action needed. Assign responsibility and a follow-up date for issues requiring correction.

This checklist relates to the 2015 edition. If the system is transitioning to or using another edition, review the questions against the standard being applied. The checklist supports audit preparation; conclusions must be based on actual evidence.
