IATF 16949:2016 awareness and interpretation training at Federal Mogul Vietnam

On 20 and 21 September 2017, Federal-Mogul Vietnam Co., Ltd. worked with ITVC Global to deliver IATF 16949:2016 awareness and interpretation training.

IATF 16949:2016, the automotive quality management system standard, was published by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) on 3 October 2016. It replaced ISO/TS 16949:2009, with the transition period ending on 14 September 2018.

ITVC Global provided consulting, awareness training and interpretation of IATF 16949:2016 at Federal Mogul Vietnam as part of the project to upgrade its quality management system from ISO/TS 16949:2009.

Company and project background

According to the original article, Federal Mogul manufactures and sells automotive wiring protection products and vehicle components. Its Vietnam factory is located at Trang Due Industrial Park, Hai Phong.

At the time of publication, the system upgrade was planned to take approximately six months. Awareness and standard interpretation training formed part of the recorded implementation activities.

The role of training

Reading and discussing the standard together helps employees develop a shared understanding before reviewing the system. When moving from training to implementation, the responsible team needs to clarify:

Requirements relevant to each department’s work.
Documents and records that need to be reviewed and updated.
Questions or gaps that require further attention.
