About Messer

The Messer name has been associated with industrial gas expertise for more than 100 years. The Messer Group produces and supplies oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, helium, shielding gases for welding, specialty gases, medical gases and a wide range of gas mixtures. 
The range of gases available in nature is matched by the variety of industries benefiting from applications developed by Messer’s specialists. These include steel and metals, chemicals, food and pharmaceuticals, automotive and electronics, medicine, research and environmental technology.

According to the company profile in the original article, the Messer Group was headquartered in Bad Soden, Germany, and reported revenue of EUR 1,027 million in 2013. Messer in Vietnam

Messer entered Vietnam in 1997 by establishing Messer Hai Phong Industrial Gases Co., Ltd. in Hai Phong. Messer Hai Phong later opened a representative office in Hanoi to further develop the northern market.

In 1998, Messer established Messer Vietnam Industrial Gases Co., Ltd. at the Vietnam–Singapore Industrial Park in Binh Duong Province to meet compressed gas demand in the south. Its cylinder filling plant in Vietnam was upgraded to a filling pressure of 200 bar.

In 2007, Messer Hai Phong signed an agreement to supply industrial gases for Hoa Phat Group’s integrated steel plant project in Hai Duong Province. This involved an initial investment of more than EUR 13 million in an air separation and liquefaction plant with capacity of 8,500 Nm³/h.

In 2009, Messer established a second gas filling plant with a 200 bar filling pressure at Dong Xuyen Industrial Park to serve industrial gas demand in Ba Ria–Vung Tau’s shipbuilding market.

In 2010, Messer established its first air separation unit in Hai Duong and signed a contract with Phuong Dong Biofuels to build a CO2 recovery plant in Binh Phuoc.

In 2011, Messer began construction of the CO2 recovery plant in Binh Phuoc.

In 2013, an air separation and liquefaction plant with capacity exceeding 8,500 Nm³/h was built.

In 2014, an agreement was signed with Hoa Phat for a third air separation plant with capacity of 10,000 Nm³/h. The original plan expected it to begin operating in early 2016.

The original profile also described Messer’s charitable activities in Vietnam: ventilators worth up to USD 22,000 donated to Binh Duong Hospital in 2005; medical equipment worth USD 20,000 for the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology’s neonatal department in 2006; VND 160 million for the Binh Duong orphanage; and two Draeger ventilators worth USD 200,000 to strengthen cardiac intensive care and paediatric surgery capacity at Viet Duc Hospital.
