CO2 emission factor table

The following table summarizes Vietnam's electricity grid CO2 emission factors from 2014 to 2020 (updated to April 2021).

This is useful reference information when conducting a facility-level greenhouse gas inventory.

When preparing a greenhouse gas inventory report, CO2 emission factors are also needed for the following sources:

1. Direct emissions — Scope 1 — include:

• Fossil fuels such as petrol, diesel, HFO, LNG and LPG used in industrial production, transport and other activities.
• Refrigerants: compounds used as refrigerants in refrigeration systems (HFCs).

2. Indirect emissions — Scope 2 — include:

• Emissions associated with the use of energy sources such as electricity, heat, steam and compressed air.

3. Supply chain emissions — Scope 3 — include:

• Emissions from raw material extraction or production, outsourced processing by subcontractors and the transportation of goods by suppliers.
