ABOUT THE EOS/ESD ASSOCIATION.
The EOS/ESD Consortium started with almost 100 members and has now grown to over 15,869 members and volunteers worldwide. Originally focused on ESD on electronic components, the association has since expanded its horizons to include areas such as textiles, plastics, web processing, cleanrooms and graphic arts. To meet the needs of a constantly changing environment, the EOS/ESD association is operated to expand awareness of ESD through the issuance of standards, educational programmes, local chapters, publications, and guidelines. , certifications and symposiums. It is the only organization accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to write and publish standards for electrostatics.
EOS/ESD is a worldwide association
INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRICAL ELECTRICAL (ESD)
Under normal circumstances, electrostatic phenomena and ESD are simply a nuisance. However, in an age of ever-evolving technology, the familiar static shocks we receive when walking across a carpet can be costly or dangerous.
Discharge of static electricity such as this may cause igniting of flammable mixtures and may damage electronic components. Static electricity can attract contaminants in clean environments (clean rooms) or cause products to stick together.
The cost for ESD damaged electronics alone ranges from a few cents for a simple diode to several hundred dollars for complex devices/components. The loss of production time in the web processing industry due to electrostatic attraction is significant. These costs include repair and rework costs, transportation, labor and general administration costs, opportunities that must be considered for significant improvement in reducing losses to ESD and static electricity. .
What is the ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard?
ESD S20.20 Quality control standard for electrostatic discharge control (ESD = ElectroStatic Discharge)
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the common occurrence of a temporary electric shock caused by a person or 'charged' objects. ANSI/ESD S20.20 is the multi-industry standard for developing ESD control programs to protect assemblies and sensitive electronic equipment from cost damage and reduce service life. Using the control methods and guidelines of this standard, an organization can develop an ESD control program that protects devices down to 100v (class 1a) or less.

The benefits of applying antistatic according to ESD S20.20
Nowadays, electronic components can be very easily damaged or defective due to improper handling. And the disposal or repair of components damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD) can cost organizations disposing of electronic components in time and money.
The benefits of applying antistatic according to ESD S20.20 are as follows:
• Increase awareness within the organization about ESD.
• Improve overall process performance and product control.
• Reduced failure rates, reduced rework and cost reductions due to discharge troubleshooting.
• Provides linkages with other areas in the electronics industry.
• Provide clear evidence to your customers during their factory visits.
• ESD control (appropriate clothing, grounding tables, signs, etc.).
• Create competitive advantage and increase marketing ability, increase market share, win customers' trust in controlling discharge during production and processing of goods.
