Principles for implementation

• Commitment: communicate the applicable Code of Conduct and assign responsibility for implementation.
• Consistency: use a shared framework and the relevant implementation guidance.
• Appropriate scope: consider the products, locations and business relationships included in the assessment.
• Improvement: identify gaps and follow through on corrective actions. BSCI is an assessment and improvement programme, not a product certification scheme.
• Credible assessment: follow the programme's arrangements for approved monitoring and auditing partners.
• Risk awareness: assess working-condition risks in the relevant supply chain.
• Efficient records: maintain accurate site information and assessment records.
• Learning: build the knowledge and skills needed to improve daily practice.
• Collaboration: work with customers, workers and relevant stakeholders.

Preparing with ITVC

Start by confirming the customer's request, site scope, existing records and improvement needs. ITVC can discuss a consulting and training scope suited to the facility.
