Conditions for Implementing ISO 22000

1. Prerequisite: leadership commitment

• Commit to implementation and provide close direction throughout the ISO 22000 programme.
• Understand the fundamental requirements of ISO 22000.
• Establish a food safety policy, food safety objectives and implementation actions.
• Assign a member of management to take responsibility for the programme.
• Provide the resources needed for training and implementation.

2. Decisive factor: employee participation

• Understand the purpose and importance of food safety management.
• Recognize individual responsibilities for assigned work.
• Follow the requirements applicable to each job.

3. Technology and equipment capability

• Meet applicable GMP and sanitation standard operating procedure (SSOP) requirements.
• Enable control of identified hazards.
• Meet applicable legal and industry requirements.
