Steps for implementing TQM

Implementation involves the following steps:

1. Review the organization’s current situation.
2. Secure leadership commitment.
3. Establish a TQM steering committee.
4. Provide quality awareness training.
5. Train personnel in statistical tools and techniques.
6. Provide 5S training.
7. Establish quality control circles (QCCs).
8. Set improvement objectives for the QCCs.
9. Put 5S, statistical techniques and QCC activities into practice.
10. Record results and standardize successful practices in procedures and work instructions.
11. Maintain improvement activities on an ongoing basis.
