2. Participants and duration
Suitable for learners seeking an introduction to Lean Six Sigma.
Basic arithmetic skills are required: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Also suitable for university students specialising in quality management.
4 days.
3. Course content
1. LSS fundamentals and Lean tools — 1.5 days
Course introduction; Six Sigma, Lean and their combination; implementation phases, belt responsibilities and Yellow/Green/Black Belt comparison; processes, inputs and outputs (KPIVs/KPOVs).
Value-added and non-value-added work; seven wastes: motion, overprocessing, waiting, inventory, transport, defects and overproduction.
Takt time, cycle time, lead time and line balancing.
Original bilingual syllabus: LSS fundamentals and Lean tools.
2. Define and Measure — 1 day
Define: implementation steps, Pareto analysis, process flowcharts, brainstorming and applicable tools.
Measure: implementation steps, data types, data collection plans, basic statistics, Sigma levels 1–6, yield, defects, DPPM and applicable tools.
Practice uses trainer-provided cases and datasets; company data may be used where available. Excel is specified for Pareto analysis, basic statistics, Sigma levels and process quality.
Original bilingual syllabus: Define and Measure.
3. Analyze, Improve and Control — 1.5 days
Analyze: implementation steps, the 4M principle, 5 Whys, fishbone analysis, hypotheses and validation, and applicable tools.
Improve: implementation steps, calculation of improvement results and applicable tools.
Control: implementation steps, control methods and an example LSS project report. Sections include practice with trainer-provided cases and data.
Final assessment for the LSSYB certificate.
Original bilingual syllabus: Analyze, Improve, Control and final assessment.
Final assessment: 90 minutes, following the Vietnamese source column. The image’s English column says 60 minutes; this note resolves that inconsistency in favour of the Vietnamese original. “NA” entries indicate that no software is specified.
4. Support and adaptation
This course does not include a separate project-support programme, as Yellow Belt participants are not being trained to lead improvement projects.
The content may be adapted to the business’s products, services or production processes.
