COURSE: LEAN SIX SIGMA GREEN BELT (LSSGB)

APPLICATION: MANUFACTURING AND MANUFACTURING-RELATED ACTIVITIES

Learning objectives

Introduce Lean Six Sigma as a structured approach to continual improvement.

Develop participants' ability to apply Lean Six Sigma methodology in improvement projects.

• Understand and practise selected Lean tools.
• Understand and apply statistical tools covered at Green Belt level.
• Understand and apply selected quality-control tools.
• Understand the sequence, logic and methods of Lean Six Sigma.
• Analyse relevant project data and interpret the results.
• Build the capability to lead and implement improvement projects.
• Provide access to free, open-source statistical software for learning and work.
• Train participants to use that software for Green Belt-level analyses.
• Develop a foundation for contributing to more advanced projects and further Black Belt training.

Training duration

• Six days.

Intended participants

• Suitable for personnel who will carry out improvement or management work.
• Participants must be able to use Excel tables and common calculations such as sums, products and quotients.
• At least one year of relevant work experience is recommended.
• Familiarity with measurement equipment and how it operates is recommended.

I. main course content

LSS fundamentals and Define phase - 1 day

Measure phase - 1 day

Analyse phase - 1 day

Improve phase - 1.5 days

Control phase - 1.5 days; 120-minute theory test

Recommended follow-up

After training, the company should select practical improvement projects and assign teams so that participants can apply what they have learned.

The company may request additional instructor-days to support project implementation, as described in the optional programme below.

Scope of project support

The instructor helps teams select improvement projects.

The instructor supports teams through each improvement phase.

• Define: review project selection and team reports, and help clarify the project scope.
• Measure: review implementation, data results and conclusions, and suggest improvements to the measurement approach.
• Analyse: review analytical methods, results and questions about root-cause investigation.
• Improve: review proposed solutions, implementation and methods for evaluating effectiveness.
• Control: review control methods, reporting to management, lessons learned and outstanding team questions.

Support schedule

• Project definition and selection: for example, one instructor-day in the project launch month, designated T.
• Measurement and process analysis: for example, one instructor-day in month T+1.
• Root-cause analysis: for example, one instructor-day in month T+2.
• Improvement: for example, one instructor-day in month T+3.
• Control: for example, one instructor-day in month T+4.

Note:

• The parties agree the support scope, duration and schedule according to the number of projects and the company's needs.
• Content can be adapted to the company's products and operating processes.
