GHG Inventory Services for Environmental and Sustainability Reporting

ITVC Global provides greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory support for businesses preparing environmental and sustainability information for regulators, customers and corporate reporting.

The service distinguishes statutory reporting from customer or assessment-programme requirements. The scope, calculation method and evidence should be chosen for the actual reporting purpose; different CSR and environmental programmes do not impose identical GHG requirements.

1. Statutory inventories and customer reporting

Reporting under Vietnamese requirements

Facilities within the applicable regulatory scope need to identify relevant emission sources, compile activity data, calculate emissions and prepare the required reports or mitigation planning information. Eligibility, reporting forms, responsible authorities and deadlines must be checked against current rules and the facility's sector.

Environmental and sustainability assessments

Customers and assessment programmes may request energy and emissions information as evidence of environmental management. ITVC's service supports businesses preparing information for programmes such as RBA, EcoVadis and Higg FEM, and for customer requests connected with ESG, SMETA, BSCI or other supply-chain assessments.

The requirements must be checked separately for each programme. Higg FEM assesses environmental performance. Higg FSLM uses the SLCP social and labour assessment framework; these are distinct. SA8000 focuses on social accountability and working conditions and should not be treated as a GHG inventory standard. ISO 14001 addresses environmental aspects relevant to the organisation.

2. ITVC's GHG inventory service

Define the inventory boundary

  • Scope 1: direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the organisation, such as fuel use and relevant refrigerant releases.
  • Scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased electricity and other purchased energy within the reporting method.
  • Scope 3: relevant value-chain categories such as transport, purchased goods and waste, where included by the agreed framework or reporting requirement.

Collect activity data

Compile energy, fuel, refrigerant, chemical, waste and other relevant operating data. Review consistency, completeness, accuracy and representativeness, and retain the evidence supporting each calculation.

Calculate emissions in CO₂ equivalent

Apply suitable emission factors and global-warming potentials for the selected framework, geography and reporting year. Document methods, assumptions and source references. Report results by source and reporting scope.

Analyse and report results

Prepare a GHG inventory report, identify significant sources and opportunities for reduction, and connect the findings with the company's CSR or customer emissions programme.

Integrate the information into management systems

Link relevant data with ISO 14001 environmental-aspect evaluation, ESG reporting and the evidence required by the applicable customer or assessment programme.

3. Benefits

  • Prepare consistent information for international customers and corporate reporting.
  • Provide a clearer evidence base for environmental management and reduction targets.
  • Identify major energy uses and potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Organise data for applicable statutory reporting.
  • Support the company's climate and sustainability strategy.

An inventory supports assessment readiness; it does not by itself guarantee a particular audit outcome or sustainability rating.

4. Methods and tools

The project may use ISO 14064-1, the GHG Protocol and relevant IPCC guidance, with calculation tools and documented quality checks. Factor sources may include appropriate national data or recognised datasets such as DEFRA or EPA where suitable.

ISO 14067 concerns product carbon footprints and is selected for a product-level study rather than treated as interchangeable with an organisational inventory. Training can be included so the business can maintain its data and reporting after the project.

5. Who can benefit?

The service is relevant to electronics, automotive, textile, packaging, plastics, chemicals, food and logistics businesses facing emissions-data requests; companies implementing ISO 14001, ISO 50001 or ESG reporting; and foreign-invested companies reporting to a parent organisation.

Send ITVC your reporting purpose, facilities, reporting year, customer requirements and available activity data to discuss the appropriate scope.
