How Does EcoVadis Work?

The EcoVadis sustainability assessment is a paid service that evaluates relevant sustainability management practices using documented evidence. Its process involves registration, completion of the questionnaire, expert analysis and results.

The assessment produces a scorecard with scores from 0 to 100, strengths and improvement areas. Depending on eligibility criteria and percentile ranking at the time of publication, a company may receive a Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze medal, or an eligible badge. These are rating recognitions, not certification that a company or product is sustainable.

Understanding the EcoVadis Score

The overall score of 0–100 reflects the quality of the company’s sustainability management system at the time of assessment. Recognition depends on the applicable eligibility rules, percentile ranking and theme scores; it is not guaranteed by completing the questionnaire.

The EcoVadis Assessment Process

The process has four stages:

1. Registration

2. Data Collection and Questionnaire

3. Expert Analysis

4. Results

The findings are presented in a detailed online scorecard that identifies strengths and improvement priorities.
