How to develop ISO standards?

2016-11-12 07:01:47 | Lượt xem: 4104 | ISO consultancy service's news

An ISO standard is developed by a group of experts, in a technical committee. Once the need for a standard has been established, experts will meet to discuss and negotiate a draft standard. As soon as a draft has been developed it is shared with ISO members who are asked to comment, suggest, and vote on it. If there is a consensus on the draft, it becomes an ISO standard, otherwise, it goes back to the technical committees for further revisions.

Roadmap to develop ISO standards

Are you involved in ISO's technical work?

Every working day of the year, an average of eight technical meetings occur somewhere in the world. Increasingly, organizations are using electronic means, driving the development of standards and cutting travel costs.

Key principles in standards development

1. ISO standards meet a need in the market

ISO does not decide when to develop a new standard but responds to requests from industry or other stakeholders such as consumer groups. Typically, an industry or group will notify the need for a standard to its national members, which will then contact the International Standardization Organization ISO. Contact details for national members can be found in the members list danh sách các thành viên.

2. ISO standards are based on expert opinion globally

ISO standards are developed by experts from around the world who are part of larger groups called technical committees. Experts negotiate all aspects of the standard, including its scope, key definitions, and content. Further information can be found in the list of technical committees danh sách các ủy ban kỹ thuật.

3. ISO standards are developed through a multi-stakeholder process

The technical committee includes not only experts from relevant fields but also from consumer associations, academia, NGOs, and government. Refer to those who develop ISO standards những người phát triển các tiêu chuẩn ISO.

4. ISO standards are based on consensus

Developing ISO standards is a consensus-based approach and all stakeholders' opinions are considered.
